<aside> ✋ Thanks for downloading this Shortcut.
I made it because I wanted a button that would always open my “today” entry in a journal database. Each day, a new entry is added (with my Automated New Day Creation shortcut), so I couldn’t link to a static page.
This shortcut simply pulls the URL of the latest entry in a database and opens it in Notion.

If you haven’t already created an API integration, follow the instructions below
It’s important that you click the link above in Safari for it to work.
The final step is to configure the Shortcut with values based on your database.
Expand each key to learn more...
API Key : Bearer secret_xyzabc123etc. (where secret_xycabc123etc. is your Internal Integration Token)
db url : the url of the database you want to add to. NOTE: the url references whichever database view is showing when you copy the link. NOTE: Please read this update regarding recent iOS/macOS updates: Fixing Broken String Parsing in Apple Shortcuts for iOS17.6+ & macOS 14.6+
date_field : name of a date property in your database that will be used to store the start and end times of logged events
The final result should look something like this:
Once you’ve entered those details, you should be able to run the Shortcut and it’ll open the most recent entry from your chosen database right in Notion.
If you have issues configuring the shortcut, get in touch at [email protected]
Thanks!
